Ok, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has experienced this. It has only happened with my son, never my daughter. It's happened twice.

He'd wake up screaming as if someone just copped of his leg, serious screams that made me wonder if he'd gotten a spider bite or something. I'd strip him through his screaming, try and comfort him, nothing.

I found nothing wrong and could not calm him down. He didn't want to be held and writhed and arched. The whole time he was like staring past me, almost as if he was still asleep. I tried to wake him up, assuming he was having a night terror, but I couldn't bring him around. I'd try a warm bottle, rocking him, anything, and nothing seemed to work.

He'd eventually snap out of it 20-30 minutes or so, but it sucked and was really scary.

Dr. Sears has a good article on it here.

    Glad I'm not alone.

AndreAnna, that is EXACTLY what it was! Writhing and arching, staring past me, unresponsive to anything we offered to soothe him. John's cousin's son has had night terrors and she says it sounds like that's what happend. So, glad it wasn't a seizure or anything, but still! AWFUL!

That seems SOOOO scary! I am so sorry he has been having a hard time. I can't believe he had to have those procedures done. Poor little man...and poor mommy that had to witness it. I would have been crying my eyes out too!

OMG, that exact thing happened to my Granddaughter Abi. She woke-up with a high fever, Mom took her into the doctor's. They poked her and took a sample of urine and blood. Gave my Granddaughter an antibiotic shot, told my daughter to bring Abi back for a second shot. A couple of night later Abi woke-up screaming and did so for about 45 minutes. Weird. Kind of makes you stop and think of what might really be going on. Scary. I'm glad Max is alright.
